LOVE N KINDNESS VETERAN CENTER – FOOD PROJECT
Two of the most needs of any individual is shelter and food. In 214, LOVE N KINDNESS CDC Partnered with Forgotten Harvest. Their mission is to relieve hunger in Metro Detroit and to prevent nutritious food waste. This organization obtains 40 million pounds food, meats, can gods, pantries, fruits, vegetable and other items from over 800 stores and retailers, throughout the state of Michigan. Each Thursday of the month. This donated food (meat, vegetables, fruits, dry goods, pantries breads, eggs and etc) is delivered weekly to our site by truck. No food is wasted. Food not taken into the veteran’s and emergency shelter is shared with the residents of the Ravendale Community. Food distribution is handled by a small group of dedicated professional staff.. Family and friends of veterans are welcome to come also.
Our Faith-Based outreach services provide not only food and shelter, but job placement and relocation assistance. Our veteran guests have access to our ministerial staff and Men’s Program which provides the confidence and guidance to strengthen and uplift those in need of our help. We encourage strength building and a love for the community through our food outreach programs stocked by Forgotten Harvest.
